In 2016 I began a small private practice in Edina, MN which has now relocated to St. Paul. In this practice I am seeing men and women who have suffered from a traumatic event in their life. These individuals have come to a place in their lives were they are ready for change. Through our work together utilizing psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, the principles of sensorimotor and somatic experiencing, and a clients own strengths, these strong men and women see change in their lives that allows them to live free of the grips of trauma.

Deputy State Behavioral Health Officer

In this role I serve as the subject matter expert to the State Surgeon, Unit Commanders, and Senior Leadership on all behavioral health matters. This position allows me to act as a mid-level leader were I am able to influence policy and procedures, while still having the ability to interact with Soldiers on a regular basis

SR. Psychiatric Social Worker

2015 - 2016

 

 

In this role  I served as a Senior Psychiatric Social Worker at NorthPoint Health & Wellness. In this position I worked with men and women from the North Minneapolis community, as well as Hennepin county as a whole. I served as a primary point of contact for the trauma informed care implementation team at NorthPoint. 

 

 

Psychotherapist

​2012 - 2015

 

From June 2012 thru October 2015 I worked for a small group practice, Lake Country Associates, in Park Rapids, MN. I saw clients from a wide variety of social and economic backgrounds. I worked with children (5 and older), teens, and adults. I had and continue to have a focus on trauma work, however I saw clients with a wide array of mental health diagnosis. In my trauma work I have become familiar with the struggles of those suffering from the impacts of substance abuse and chemical dependency.

Additionally, I also facilitated anger management groups.

 

 

Behavioral Health Officer - MN Army National Guard

​2010 - Present

 

In this position I serve as a subject matter expert where I advise senior leadership on best practices, psychological trends, and outreach efforts. I also provide biopsychosocial assessments for Soldiers who have been referred for a Behavioral Health Evaluation.  In addition, I serve as the Administrative and Training Officer for our Behavioral Health section. In this role it is my responsibility to oversee and ensure completion of all necessary administrative duties, to include performance reviews, and pay and promotion issues. As the Training Officer it is my duty to ensure all Soldiers are current on all applicable Army and civilian training. 

 

 

Co-Founder - MN Trauma Project

 

The MN Trauma Project was started in response to the limited number of workshops offered on trauma and attachment in Minnesota. Workshops and conferences presenting cutting edge therapeutic approaches and models frequently occur on the East and West coasts, while the options available in the Midwest are often few and far between. 
The MN Trauma Project aims to create spaces where trauma providers can network and develop relationships so as to broaden the support within the professional community, ease the process of making referrals, and gradually improve access to trauma competent care for the clients whom we serve.
